PT Graduation!

Today was Sean's final day of physical therapy. They gave him a t-shirt today to celebrate his walking and completion of PT. I can't say enough good things about the AthletiCo in Oak Park and his Physical Therapist, Maureen. She was wonderful and really knew how to work with Sean - and he pretty much charmed the entire staff. I think it is safe to say that they are thrilled at the progress he has made in such a short time, but are equally sad to see him go. I forgot my camera today, so I guess we'll be making at least one more visit back to get some photos with his fan club! Special thanks to Sarah for the recommendation!

Hendricks Happenings

I don't foresee a time in the immediate future to do a photo update, but thought I would try to get something up here considering our child has now crossed the chasm from baby to toddler. Sean took some fake-out steps about a month ago, but took his first real steps at our small group on August 7th, but he really started taking off last Wednesday and started walking without being coaxed by hugs and strawberries. Crawling is still quicker and so he is happily participating in both - but my baby is a kid now. He comes up with a new word everyday and has a smile and a giggle that no one can resist and an arm (a throwing arm) equally as compelling (and frustrating for mom, who often gets hit with chicken nuggets and sippy cups). Someday when he is pitching for the Cubs, we'll look back on this with laughter, but for now - I try to believe them when my friends say "It is just a phase" It is just a phase, it is just a phase, I think I can, I think I can...

We spent last weekend in Cincinnati visiting Stan's Grandma, who is celebrating her 90th birthday. Where do you celebrate a 90th birthday? At the Argosy Casino! We also got to see Brook & Jeremy Gilliam on Friday night and stay in their newly renovated home. Sean had a great time with the girls and chasing Coco. On our way home, we stopped at Greyhouse. This coffee shop probably deserves its own entry, but Stan and I enjoyed some delicious crepes, coffee and company at the Purdue coffee house managed by our old church.

Tomorrow, Sean and I are going to Denver with my Mom, for a work conference. We are going to stay at a nice hotel downtown and will have a chance to visit with my Aunt Mary & Uncle Mick while we are there. My Mom and Dad just got home last night from Australia visiting J and Dyan - and having the time of their lives. Jet lag + newly walking toddler = Pray for my Mom!

And after 30 months, we may have a new Senior Pastor this weekend. Todd Wilson will be preaching in all 3 services this Sunday, followed by a congregational vote. Funny thing - I went to Carmel High School with Todd & Katie, and was on the soccer team with Katie. It was fun to reconnect last night - after about 15 years! Is that even possible?!? They are a remarkable couple and seem to be a good fit for Calvary Memorial Church. Update: Todd Wilson was voted in as our Senior Pastor on Sunday, August 24th!

Thanks for stopping by to see what is going on with us!
