Daily life

Sean is very good at "sharing" with his sister :)

You know you live in Chicago, when your son likes to play "traffic"

Brook came for a visit and showed Sean how to make cookies - but I am most grateful to Brook for teaching Sean how to blow his nose - unfortunately he had many opportunities to demonstrate his new skill this winter...

Sean's Birthday(s)

Sean has learned a thing or two from his Mommy... apparently stretching out his birthday was one of them :) Here are some pictures from his 4 days of celebrating!

For the last 3 months if you asked Sean how old he was going to be, he positioned his fingers to show 3, and then he would say "thomas the tank engine with a button on top cinders and ashes" - so first thing birthday morning, before Stan went to work, we put a birthday candle in an IKEA cinnamon roll and let him open his talking Thomas train. I think in his mind, this train is synonymous with turning 3!

Getting on his party beads and then off to the Zoo!

True kids at the zoo, watching the construction trucks and the geese, rather than the elephant behind them!

All the kids

These buddies have a good time together!

Petting the goats

For Sean's birthday dinner, we went to Rainforest Cafe -
aka "The Jungle"
We let Sean open a couple presents there -
he was excited to get "big Spencer"

Pretty sure this is the only birthday picture that I am in....

Good thing Sean doesn't realize he is about the become breakfast for that big cat...

Had some birthday cake and cookies the next night with our small group.

Sean and Daddy rode the train out to Glen Ellyn for his 3rd birthday celebration!

(he doesn't have a cone head - Daddy did not realize when he put on his had, that I had stuffed his gloves in there)

Sean celebrated his birthday with Stan's family at 2 Toots Train Whistle Grill

Sean pretty much stood here the whole time and watched the trains go by - luckily he never touched or sneezed on anyone's food...

One happy Grandma

Aren't these cousins beautiful?!?

Sean blowing out his candle

Who knew that boys liked to dress like each other?!?

The Final Celebration! Last Saturday, we had a 'race car' birthday party with Sean's friends
Proud of my centerpiece - cars hanging from the lights :)

In Sean's words "the kids"

Sean's favorite things - pasta, meatballs, breadsticks, veggies with white dippy and strawberries

Cupcakes with mini Cars and race flags

Sean's cupcake

For Sean - nothing beats friends, a cupcake and hearing the "happy birthday" song sung to him!
After everyone left, we (amazingly) got Sean down for a nap, when he woke up, he said "I lost my kids..." The boy sure loves a good party!

Later that night, we got out the cupcakes again, but this time we sang to Sean AND Papa. After that we played bowling on Wii - Papa won, but Sean filled almost every frame with a spare or strike, and we taught him how to say: "I smoked you, Gram"

Balloon Fun.

3-Year Old Stats

Sean had his 3-year old wellness check-up today - Here are the stats:
38" tall
34.5 pounds
And... Potty Trained!!!

Obviously I am most psyched about the last one. Seemed like we had a window of opportunity, so we took it - and Sean has done really well. Nothing like stickers, M&Ms and IKEA cinnamon rolls... and some great celebratory dancing by Mommy!
