2009 Cabin Trip

One of the highlights of the year - our camping turned cabining trip with four other couples from college.

Can you guess who the impostors are?

Reenacting a lively game of Pictionary...
guess you had to be there....

"I'm there."

Are you familiar with the State Farm ad campaign about being "there" for its customers at the intersections of life? It features all sorts of people standing on red circles declaring "I'm there."

Well I had an "I'm there" moment at Target today when I not only purchased the #5 Luvs diapers for Sean, but also got Pampers Swaddlers in the newborn and #1 sizes, and then decided to also get some pull-ups for Sean, who for 5 straight days has peed on the toilet. (I don't think we are anywhere close to potty training, but I do see why pull-ups can be so nice when it comes to wrestling my 2.5 years old to get a diaper on several times a day...) Yeah, I'm there.

County Fair & more Arboretum pictures

Helping Sean navigate the rocks - no tadpoles this time so he got to get his feet wet!

"We love Saturday mornings!"

Splish, Splash!

Scooping up goldfish at the County Fair

Sean could either keep the goldfish or go for a prize - Mommy chose goldfish crackers instead!

Sean wanted to take this photo for Daddy (who was busy painting a dining room and a nursery while we got to have fun at the fair...)

"stop taking pictures of the dining room... take one of me!"

Sean created his own "sandbox"

say cheese!

Does it get any cooler than camo & shades?

Coming home from an impromptu trip to Grandma & Grandpa's swimming pool...

Parking.

Watch out! Beep...beep...beep...

Pantry

One of the best projects Stan has done in the house to date was creating a pantry for me. His dad came up one Saturday and they built in shelves - even a rolling one - fancy! After 2 months of having my food in boxes on the kitchen floor - it was pure bliss to unpack them all into the pantry. My man has skills.

Little Update

  • Still behind on taking pictures, downloading pictures and uploading to website - maybe putting the computer in the basement wasn't a good idea...
  • We are having a girl
  • I'm 8 months tomorrow - and the baby dropped a week and a half ago - pregnancy is not as comfortable anymore...
  • Although the baby's dropped, I have no other labor signs at this time - and my doctor is out of town for a couple weeks - so she is not allowed to come until after September 24th...
  • I've also been told to gain more weight - not a bad assignment! Hello, donuts!
  • Sean's "big boy" room is done - Stan did a great job, and Sean is getting used to his toddler bed
  • The dining room is done - I took photos yesterday - it is a pretty blue color and Stan found a way to hang a 77 pound mirror on a plaster wall - by himself... what a man.
  • The nursery is coming along - Stan painted it yellow and put up a white chair rail - the furniture is in place. Need to install a ceiling fan, put up a couple things on the walls and move the rocking chair back in there.
  • I finally went through Sean's 0-3 months and 3-6 months clothes. I definitely think it is easier to put a girl in "boy" clothes than it would be going the other way around. I only set aside a few onesies that said things like "automatic sprinkler" and "handsome" and "little boy" - hope she looks good in blue :)
  • Sean peed on the potty yesterday - twice! Disclaimer - we are not really trying to potty train, we just keep a potty seat in the bathroom in case he wants to try. He has sat on it probably 20-30 times and never peed once - until yesterday! I rewarded him with 2 m&ms - and later on that afternoon, he went again to show Stan. I'm hoping to exploit the fact that my child may do anything for m&ms... we'll see...
  • Sean loves to say things like "let's do it!" - "that'd be fun" - and he'll stop in the middle of singing a song and ask "too loud?" - usually my answer is yes...
  • Stan just started his last semester of law school! We're in the homestretch - and he's registered to take the Bar in February.
  • We had a great Labor Day Weekend in Brown County with our close college friends for our 7th Annual Cabining Trip - it was a nice time of relaxing and catching up - and Sean had another great weekend with his Gram & Papa!
Some day I will skip the afternoon nap and post some photos - but I'm not going to hold myself to a deadline this time...
